After a long drive and a good nap, we finally arrived at Taipei 101, tallest building in the world at that time…

The view up there is really nice, and getting up there is really fast…(less than 60 seconds to 89th floor I think)…

Grabbed some souviners from the shop there…

After a quick tour at Taipei 101, we are supposed to leave for dinner. Street view from Taipei 101 entrance.

Then we were treated to a yummy, delicious – HOTPOT Dinner here…

It was really a yummy dinner and very very filling as we were treated to an endless flow of food! Very spicy as well..muahahah..

After such a long day of travelling then we finally arrived at our hotel for that night after dinner.

Nice and spacious bedroom. Beitou is a Hot Spring area as well, hence, we have a hot spring bathroom built in as well. Nice to enjoy the hotspring before going to bed…

This is were we had lunch. It is very near Yilan and I suppose it’s on the way back to Taipei.

There were lots of dishes, good food, local dishes… It was really great, however, the pics not very nice – so didn’t post!

Yup, that’s the summary of the lunch that day. After lunch we then head back to Taipei, a 1 and 1/2 hour long drive back – which I took to nap…

2nd day at Taiwan, woke up at about 9 as we are supposed to leave about 11 back to Taipei. We stopped at the National Center for Traditional Arts before continuing our journey.

Took a group photo before we went in.

There were a lot of interesting buildings in the center. Very unfortunately, I don’t know what most of the buildings are for…

As well as snacks…

We walked around for awhile and went for lunch at a hill top restaurant… More on that — next post…

Few months back, in January, I was fortunate enough to visit Taiwan because Malaysia won a regional competition for Windows Phone. I am not the winner, but I just get to tag along, because Malaysia won! 🙂

We reached Taiwan in the afternoon, and took a long drive to Yilan – which is a Hot Spring area. We checked into Hotel Royal Chiao Hsi and it was free & easy for the rest of the evening. The weather in Taiwan is only around 12 degrees at that time.

The room is nice and comfy, and it has a welcome card as well…

The area is famous with hot springs, the best thing – you can even enjoy hot spring in the comfort of your bathroom 🙂

Had some time before dinner, so I walked around the hotel – the swimming pool…

Just a short walk from the pool is the public hot spring.

I then went for a buffet dinner with others. And right after dinner, we were treated with an opera show in the lobby…

Was tired after that, went back to my room, enjoyed the hot spring, showered and slept…

Penang Trip

23Mar10

The last holiday in 2009 was a long drive up north to Penang with Lorraine during the Christmas week. Well, since all the public holiday fell on a Friday, we made most of the days off that we had. We had breakfast in KL, before driving up to Penang – it was a long drive, approx. 3 and 1/2 hours before we see this….

3 and 1/2 hours drive is not really that long, but when you are confined in a car (and not exactly a very big car) there really isn’t not much to do but this…

Now, the first thing that we decided to do when reach Penang is to look for food, but it’s already about 3PM and we weren’t really sure where to get nice local food. That’s when we were grateful (and still are) that we have a GPS with us (Garmin Asus M20 phone). And that’s how we found this curry mee stall in the middle of nowhere…

It looked mouth watering and the portion is just enough for tea time. We didn’t want to stuff ourselves and miss dinner!

After  the curry mee, we got some snacks by the roadside as well, some deep fried stuff… yummy~

We then drove down to Batu Ferringhi and we had drinks at this bar by the beach…

And went around to hunt for great bargains (none found though)…

We were not hungry till quite late, almost 11PM, and that was when the problem starts – where to find good local food at that hour? We didn’t feel like eating @ The Ship or some nice looking, overcharging Mediterenean restaurant when we are in Penang, so we drove around hunting for food and this is what we found..

It was a nice meal to end the night before going bed…

It’s nice to see your friends getting married, you feel happy for them. But when you know them half your life, then you see it as signs of progression – then you feel old. Remaining of Ivan & Ee Lane’s wedding…

Ivan & Ee Lane

06Mar10

Ee Lane is a friend I knew since high school, about 12 years ago. When she got married recently, she invited me to her wedding and I took this opportunity to take some pictures. I believe they love each other very much, you can tell from their eyes and I wish them happy forever.
